Demolition Derby Roars Into Tunica Soon

TUNICA, Mississippi (October 1, 2007)— Bad Boy Productions Demolition Derby will be crashing into the Tunica Arena and Expo Center October 20th promising fun and entertainment for the entire family.

“The people who come to this event will see some of the best drivers and cars in the country, and the competition is fierce,” Lynn Henson, the event promoter, explained. “There will be rollovers and fires and so much action going on, you can't possibly catch it all.”

Officials with the Tunica Arena and Expo Center say this event always draws a big crowd and brings people from all over the country.

“Every year the event is here, we fill up the stands with people of all ages from all over the Mid-South because it’s such an exciting event,” Peck Bouchillon said.  “They have drivers coming from as far as Indiana, Illinois, Kansas, and Kentucky to claim the $15,000 prize money.”

This will be the fourth year the Demolition Derby has come to the Tunica Arena and Expo Center.  The organizers say they keep coming back to this location because of the quality of the facility.

“The Tunica Arena is an incredible facility that allows us to run this event in a comfortable indoor atmosphere unaffected by rain or other weather related issues,” Henson said.  “It is also located close to the casinos in Tunica, is a short drive to the various attractions in Memphis, and offers easy access for the drivers and their cars and equipment.”

The event starts at 6:00 pm, and general admission tickets are $15.00, children 3-12 are $12.00, and 2 and under free.  Tickets will be sold at the door.

The Tunica Arena and Exposition Center features an indoor arena with 48,000 square feet of climate-controlled event space and permanent seating for 2,200, a covered outdoor arena of 230 feet by 400 feet with seating for up to 500, an adjacent pavilion with an additional 100,000 square feet of exposition area, plus extensive parking, shower facilities, dressing areas and support services.   Located on Highway 61 10 minutes south of the resort area in Tunica County, the Arena is owned and managed by Tunica County, Mississippi, and operated by the Tunica County Arena & Exposition Center, Inc., a Mississippi not-for-profit corporation.
